A traveling Iris.

Iris flowers exist on almost all continents, with over 300 species. Iris rhizomes from Iris pallida and Iris germanica produce one of the rarest and most elegant perfumery materials: orris.

I created Iris Nomad around the concept that iris species have traveled the world for centuries, and during the Age of Discoveries, it crisscrossed continents at the hands of botanists and explorers, either as gifts or as treasures to be replanted in private gardens.

To construct a respectable iris accord, one must use real orris root materials; in this case, I used a tincture from Morocco, orris butter, alpha-irones, and a variety of ionones, in order to achieve a strong diffusion and cold/ hot throw.

Enjoy.

What Makes It Unique

Iris Nomad is probably the only iris candle you'll find in the luxury home fragrance market that contains real orris materials, and that it's enhanced with a new, radiant amber molecule called Operanide®. The iris and violet accords in it are blended using α-irones, aside from ionones and orris butter. These materials are prohibitively expensive for larger candle brands, but since I can afford to put any materials in my blends, I decided to use them to remain loyal to what these accords should smell in real luxury perfumery.

Care Instructions

  • Trim the wick up to 1/8” before each use. Pick out any burnt wick remains from the melted wax before it cools off with a teaspoon or other utensil.
  • Place on a heat-resistant surface and rotate often for an even melt, watch for drafts from windows or AC units.
  • To avoid tunneling, always burn to a full pool of melted wax. This candle size develops a full pool at approximately 3 hours of constant burning.
  • Keep away from children, pets and drafts.
  • To upcycle your vessel, look for instructions in the next drop down menu, or the scent-flyer included in the box.
