Luxury Crystal Cloche With Rosso Levanto Marble

Taking cues from Mid-Century Modern design, we paired our Luxury Crystal Cloche with a custom tray in Italian Rosso Levanto marble. 

Rosso Levanto is quarried in Italy and in Turkey. Used since Roman times for its beauty and strength, you can find it in tiling work, bases of columns and statuary, and also in antique every day objects. Pompeii ruins have exceptionally well-preserved examples of this marble. If you've been to Cinque Terre in Italy, you may be familiar with the town of Levanto. Although unconfirmed, it is possible this stone was given its name associated with the town and region. But it's also possible its name refers to the Levant, referring to the East, alluding to the rising sun, historically and geographically, the region along the eastern Mediterranean shores.

We picked this marble for its striking burgundy and oxblood red color variations, sometimes we pick the Italian version, and other times, we go for the Turkish; depending on the type of piece we are working on, and if it should match a particular project, for example our custom orders. MCM design is known for pairing noble materials in elegant but simple design lines intended to draw attention to the richness of the materials. As such, our high-reflective mouth-blown, fluted cloche with its clean lines complements rather than detracts from the beauty of this stone.
