Prince Of Wales Inspiration And Aromatic Profile
Prince of Wales is a love letter to Wales and my Welsh husband. His love of Wales and anything Welsh lights up his eyes every time we visit his homeland, Pembrokeshire. Full of legends and myths, Pembrokeshire is the home of one of the most beautiful stretches of coastland in the world, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Visiting Wales in the Spring is a feast for the eyes, daffodils and narcissus everywhere.
I've loved the fragrance of narcissus since I was a teenager, when I first discovered the accord in my mom's perfumes, "the honey-like nuance you smell is narcissus," she would tell me. Little did I know back then that rare narcissus absolute and jonquil absolute are real materials extracted in the South of France, and used scarcely in high perfumery due to their incredibly high prices.
I worked with them in this composition. Being an independent perfumer that only answers to himself, I can afford to work with whatever materials I want, I consider myself lucky to have the resources to be able to bring these to you, in the form of scented candles like Prince Of Wales. White rose absolute from Bulgaria, and cistus essential oil from Spain help bring forth the rosy, green, and herbaceous aspects of narcissus and daffodil, without shadowing their true narcotic character.
I composed the fragrance inspired in the coast of Pembrokeshire, adding a base of vetiver patchouli, and dry grass for a naturalizing anchor, and ambergris recalling the constant breeze in its beaches.
Prince Of Wales is classed as a narcotic floral with green and ambergris nuances, because it is a heady floral, I placed it other heady, narcotic florals in the The Last Night Of Summer capsule.
